The Sharing Faith Ministry is dedicated to the sharing of faith both with members of the church and the larger community in which we live and work. Offering various events such as the Food & Wine festival, the annual church picnic and the Octoberfest brings life to this mission with a mixture of fun, food, fellowship and fund-raising. Social clubs are part of this ministry as well with meetings of members in Bridge Club, Men’s Club, and Men’s and Women’s Breakfast gatherings. Committees under this ministry provide coffee after worship, communication through our newsletter The Link, and through the Stephen Ministry consolation and support to those in need. For current events, go to the Fellowship page.

Social Ministry addresses the concerns of our society locally and globally. It provides our members with a means of outreach through the Church. Through our Social Ministry Offerings, many of which receive matching funds from Thrivent, our church is able to help support a variety of non-profit organizations. In addition to monetary donations, the congregation has been engaged in a number of social issues from taking a closer look at homelessness in San Francisco by joining Faithful Fools in their street ministry to discussing difficult issues of sexuality and child abuse to fixing trails at the Lutheran Outdoor Ministry camp at Mt. Cross. In more recent years Social Ministry has primarily focused on feeding people locally through our ministry at Elijah’s Pantry. A Deacon’s Fund is also maintained which, through our pastor, provides emergency funds to those in need of immediate help.

Christian Education Ministry strives to provide opportunities for members of the church and the community at large to expand knowledge and appreciation of our Christian faith through participation in Sunday School classes and forums, child care nursery, adult Bible study classes, Vacation Bible School, Christmas programs, our library and our website. Soup, salad and scholar events feature presentations by experts in a variety of subjects interesting to the congregation and community from estate planning to strategies in relieving everyday stress. The church historian also works in this ministry.

Preschool Education Ministry is a joint effort of the church and the parents and teachers of the Faith Preschool, located on church property. The mission is to strengthen and expand this educational outreach to the community and to enrich the lives of young children. The preschool has its own website, which more fully describes this mission.

Buildings and Grounds Ministry maintains our property for outreach opportunities and enjoyment of our members. This mission also develops and carries out tasks related to the expansion, condition or modification of our buildings and grounds.

Finance and Stewardship Ministry oversees financial matters of the church, including the annual budget, auditing, offering counters, collection envelopes, pledge drives, and the scrip program. Encouraging members to share their time and talents is also part of this ministry.

Personnel Ministry is dedicated to hiring and providing our paid staff with job descriptions, reviews and encouragement in their ministry to us.

Worship and Music Ministry co-ordinates and seeks to enhance the worship experience by planning in concert with the church seasons. Selecting liturgy, arranging for flowers, choosing hymns, setting the Communion table, and overseeing other elements of worship is part of the ministry. Acolytes, Altar Guild, choir, the choir director, organist, ushers, and worship assistants offer service under this ministry. Alternative worship services and music programs are planned and provided. Weddings are co-coordinated as well.

Youth Ministry offers the young people of our church an opportunity to share in God’s love through fellowship and fun together. Activities include pizza parties, skating, campouts as well as participating in church worship through plays and other special events. The youth ministry also encourages social commitment; our youth regularly serve to feed the hungry by volunteering in Elijah’s pantry.
